Record of most sixes by a batsman in T20 cricket career

17 February 2005 was when first Twenty20 International cricket match was played, at Auckland where Australia beat the home team New Zealand by 44 runs. Over years since that day, we cricket fans have realized that Twenty20 cricket is more than just "hit out" or "get out" game. but, that said, big hits still receive the most applauds..

Mind you, no more than six runs you can make off a single ball (unless it's a no-ball which will make it 7 runs off 1 ball). For Twenty20 matches, teams tend to select players with ability to the send ball out of the ground.

This gives us one obvious question == which batsman has hit most sixes in T20 cricket?

Brendon McCullum of New Zealand holds the record with Yuvraj Singh of India close behind. Interestingly, as you can see in the table below, Yuvraj has played half as many games as Brendon. Another Kiwi, Ross Taylor, is also jumping up the ladder pretty quickly although third Kiwi in top 10 six hitters, Jacob Oram, has lost his touch a bit in recent times. Chris Gayle of West Indies and David Warner of Australia are also in contention to hold the record someday.

Note : Yuvraj Singh of India is the only batsman to hit 6 sixes in one over. he did it against Stuart Broad of England on 19 September 2007 at Durban in South Africa. Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina are only three batsmen to score a century in T20 Cricket.

Note : following list is limited to cricketers who have hit more than 25 sixes in their Twenty20 cricket career.. Those with 20 to 24 sixes in career like Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood of England, Kamran Akmal and Mishah-ul-Haq of Pakistan and Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka are ignored in this elite list of powerful hitters!

List updated : upto 30 June 2010.
