The inaugural IPL awards ceremony will be held on April 23, 2010 in Mumbai, two days prior to the IPL-III final at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

Performances in the IPL League phase will be considered for awards in various categories, revealed IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi at a media briefing on Wednesday.

“We have enough statistical data from the league matches to pick the best in various categories.”

The awards have been divided into viewers' and critics' choice categories, allowing cricket and armchair experts the chance to decide the best performers. A six-member awards jury will decide critics' choices. Fans can vote for players on www.IPLT20.com or www.IPLAwards.com.

The Awards Jury will comprise IPL chairperson Lalit Modi, Sunil Gavaskar, Javagal Srinath, Brian Lara, Simon Taufel and Harsha Bhogle. The surprise element of the IPL Awards ceremony will be a show by IPL cricketers, said Modi.

Kolkata Knight Riders' owner and majority stakeholder Shah Rukh Khan is the special guest, co-host for a show involving captains of the eight IPL teams.
